Cannabis Farmer Grow Trip Valencia 2019

The Cannabis grow season in Valencia for 2019 was exceptional, outstanding in many ways. No plants were lost to theft and the hoards of nasty bugs were thwarted

Last year half the grow was devastated by root rot, bugs, and mold. There were a few good plants to last me the year but nothing to write home about. This year was a lot different.

I started out with 10 plants. One I gave to a neighbor to grow his own. Two of the plants, the Amnesia mostly sativa plants, were planted in above ground special plots. Four sativa/indica blends, Critical was the indica breed, and were planted where I always grow in the ground and 3 other breeds put in pots behind those. A two meter mesh was put around the area to keep eyes off them.

Growing Cannabis For Fun and Profit

Defending Against All Odds

Almost everyday was spent sitting within the garden and over looking the plants. Every leaf was watched for invading predators, disease, or anything. Watching the leafs allowed me to find the eggs laid by various moths and butterflies that would eventually hatch and release hundreds of tiny larva, caterpillars, and things that would eat the plant and spread diseases.

During the grow I always watch for ants. Ants bring with them horrible things. They bring mealy bugs! They seem to carry them up the plant and let them leach the nutrients. Then they come along and milk the bugs! Amazing. I used Diatomaceous Earth this year to help stop most insect infestation.

To use the Diatomaceous Earth I sprinkled some on the ground around the plants, specially at the very foot of the plant as its roots enter the soil. I also diluted some Diatomaceous Earth and then sprayed the plant several times during the grow period. Once there are flowers I stopped. This certainly kept a lot of infestations from the grow.

I use neem oil also. Actually I mix neem by warming it, then mixing with hot water and add a bio soap to break up the oil and shake well. I then apply it all over the plants. This also stops with flower period. Once you get there you have to actually do everything by hand. Hand remove the beasts. In the case of some large buds, really large, like the size of a fist, had one or more caterpillars inside eating and rotting the bud so I just had to rip it out and toss the bud. Any sign of caterpillar boogers and they were tossed.

Harvesting Cannabis is Fun and a Lot of Work for Cannabis Farmer!

Best news was all the Indica plants were harvested before the first signs of caterpillar invasion. It came late this year and I am grateful. They did a lot of damage to the two sativa plants but those plants were so huge it really did not amount to much.

Usually I lose a couple plants during the grow but this year proved different and every single plant came to fruit and was harvested. This made for a bumper year! I actually have TOO MUCH! The amount of work to cut, trim and cure the massive crop was more than I planned for. I was faced with two complete harvests. One harvest for the indica plants and then 3 more weeks started the harvest of the sativa plants. It made for 2 months of cutting, curing, and trimming the buds every single day. A lot of work for a lot of product.

Making Hashish as Winter Approaches

Then in November it was time to start the hashish making on the indica plants. That took three days for three runs of the small parts of the indica plants through the IceCold hash machine. Then another day to run the sativa plants. But the rewards for that are obvious. I have to say this December I have just been smoking the hashish I made and get so stoned I forget to use the vaporizer with the buds.

For this old Cannabis Farmer sitting in the evening right up to sunset in the garden was a great and curing habit I acquired. Many of the photos from this year really were taken while I sat in wonder at the beautiful medicine that grew before me.

For the two giant monster sativa plants, they were from the breed Amnesia, I created a video.

Nice work and lovely looking Hash! Can you ever grow too much? So many folks need herbs to heal their hearts and minds! I love giving away our produce from our garden to friends in need. Stay well and warm. Namaste..
